Yearly School Calendar

The RTHS school calendar consists of approximately 180 days over a nine-month schedule. These days are divided into instructional days, Digital Learning days, in which students work from home, and Flex days. Flex days are anticipated to be held near the end of each quarter, depending on teacher needs. In addition, teachers meet weekly on Friday afternoons at 2:30 p.m. in their Learning Teams for collaborative planning and evaluation. The school employs both teacher and student workdays which do not require on-campus attendance but instead on-line work that is monitored by teachers.

Students attend six 50-minute classes and a 50-minute seminar/study period each day. In an effort to make the most of each school day and learning opportunity, our school day extends beyond traditional high school hours.

The Research Triangle High School school day runs from 8:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Friday 8:45 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. with additional learning opportunities available to students at 7:30 a.m. and from 3:45-5:00 p.m. depending on a student’s course load, internship opportunities, and need for extra tutoring or time with teachers.

The school day includes a 30-minute mentoring period as well, in which students and teachers have one-on-one meetings and students get together for team- and community-building.
