Sterling Montessori and Research Triangle High School Announce New Articulation Agreement
Research Triangle Park, NC — January 22, 2026 — Sterling Montessori and Research Triangle High School (RTHS) have signed a new articulation agreement establishing a clear and intentional pathway for students continuing their secondary education. Beginning with the currently open 2026–2027 application cycle, students enrolled at Sterling Montessori will receive priority lottery status in Group 4 for admission to Research Triangle High School.
The agreement recognizes Research Triangle High School as a strong next step for Sterling’s students who are ready to engage in academic challenges and authentic learning experiences. RTHS’s instructional model—grounded in flipped learning, project-based learning, and collaborative problem solving—supports students as they take on greater independence, intellectual rigor, and real-world application of their learning.
“We are looking forward to this partnership with RTHS, which will allow students to continue cultivating the independence and interdependence they foster here at Sterling,” said Elizabeth Uzzell, Interim Executive Director at Sterling Montessori.
“Building on that foundation, we have consistently seen students from Sterling Montessori excel at Research Triangle High School,” said Akiba Griffin, Chief School Officer at Research Triangle High School. “They transition smoothly into our flipped classrooms and project-based courses, where they are challenged to think critically, manage their time effectively, and apply their learning in meaningful ways. This agreement reflects our excitement about continuing to welcome these students and our confidence in RTHS as a successful next step in their academic journey.”
The articulation agreement formalizes an existing relationship between the two schools and provides families with greater clarity as they plan for high school. By offering priority lottery status, the agreement acknowledges both the preparation students bring with them and the strong alignment between Sterling Montessori students and the Research Triangle High School learning environment.
The Sterling Montessori–Research Triangle High School articulation agreement will take effect for the 2026–2027 admissions cycle.
